Ben Nash’s review published on Letterboxd:
Tedious morals, unsatisfactory explorations of trauma and dewey-eyed reminiscence of the joys of childhood aside it’s...sort of a blast in places. Unlike the first film, which cared more about cashing in on the popularity of Stranger Things, here Andy Muschietti actually goes some of the way to embracing the more out-there parts of the book. I’m bitterly disappointed that he didn’t go all the way - I waited for an appearance from the cosmic turtle, but no turtles were forthcoming - but for what it’s worth, this is way better than most of the shit Hollywood is peddling in the name of horror. Okay it’s not remotely scary, but who said horror had to be scary?
