i don't care about this show, but i'm not sure the creators do either. it's like the sparknotes of another show, pared down to give you the paltriest and minimal details in order to have a base level of coherence. the La Croix of drama, and frankly a disservice to compare it to soaps who are at least fucking trying. release the Andrea Arnold cut. every show has its contrivances for how scenes come together ("Lost" needed characters to have tracking skills to find one another in the jungle), but the laziness of most scenes beginning with characters running into each other is laughable. at least Meryl had a take. probably three episodes of story stretched to seven with bland insert shots of people staring longingly and with concern. as shallow as its characters with re: trauma, guilt, the legacy of abuse.
