I'd argue that the proliferation of digital effects in moviemaking has significantly reduced Baz's impact. He can tell a hell of a story (minor quibbles with adaptation aside), but he seems to get so lost in the excess that digital allows. Maybe he needs the one-hand-tied-behind-his-back of analogue to truly shine. Oh well. Elvis up next!
Whatever you think it's gonna be, it definitely isn't. Not at all scary, much more contemplative, with a lead character that doesn't speak but has a fairly abstract inner monologue at all times. Definitely covers off quite a lot thematically, particularly around gender and relationships. Maybe not the best for an airplane!
