    Frances Ha

    ★★★★★

Frances Ha is a delightful film starring Greta Gerwig, directed by Noah Baumbach. It follows a young woman (and her best friend) as they fall in and out of love/work and navigate the future. The cast is wonderful and the story rings true with authenticity and authority that underscore the plot. A real gem of a film.

Brigsby Bear is a wonderful film that draws upon the wacky and weird world of 80's children's television. At the center of the film is a person whose entire life revolves around such a show. I actually watched it over a week ago, but have been too busy to post about it. I loved it! I loved the style, the substance, the acting, the look, the sound--whoever recommended this has great taste! It was interesting to watch the short interview with Barry Sonnenfeld (who was…

My Neighbor Totoro is a delightful tale of two sisters who move to rural post-war Japan. Through their eyes, we meet the locals, explore their new house, and explore the surrounding environs. Aspects of sisterhood (and childhood) are captured so authentically and depicted with such charm (and often joy) as to melt the coldest of hearts. This is a film for anyone (ages 0 to 100+) to watch at any time. It is a perfect movie.
