I watched this a few months ago, prior to its TIFF premiere. It was director by my buddy, who I’ve written movies for before, so perhaps I’m a touch bias— but to me, this is his best in years. His is a risky process that relies on catching lightening in a bottle, and to me, with this one he caught some bitchin’ lightening and harnessed it with great finesse. Shailene is phenomenal, as are her co-stars. It’s necessarily loose and sloppy and yet coherent and cathartic at the same time. Looking forward to seeing it again.
