Karsten Meinich writes the following on Taste of Cherry in the Norwegian film magazine Montages: “When it comes to Kiarostami, I would suggest that the first watch is Taste of Cherry, because it has all the thematic ideas, and visual storytelling that characterizes Kiarostami’s filmography.” We could not agree more, and highly recommend this film, which is as relevant today as when it first premiered in 1997 and won the Cannes Palme d’Or the same year.

For most who lived in Norway during the 90’s, there is only one version of The Moomins. The classic Japanese anime, with the familiar Norwegian voices. This film works as a prequel to the show, as this is Moomintrolls first encounter with several of the recurring characters. Moomintroll and his friends must travel to find out what they can do about the comet that is on a collision course with earth. Presented on beautiful 35mm film!

The story of this slow paced drama follows the nomadic Batchuluun family (the parents and three siblings, playing themselves) through their daily life on the Mongolian steppes.

With stunning landscapes as a backdrop the film is centered around the oldest of the siblings, the strong willed and independent young girl Nansal as she befriends the stray dog Zochor. A charming and heartwarming film suitable for children and adults of all ages.
