Miller's Crossing ★★★★

Another Coens Classic! Not the best one, yet it’s definitely up there! I do love that the film is very much Coen-Esque, and it sets itself apart since it’s a period piece. You really get the feel that they had fun with this weirdly lighthearted mobster neo-noir. I’m all for it! Also there’s no one who does Dark Humor like the Coens and there’s now exception here. Gabriel Byrne nails it, Coens always surprise me with their picks for leading man, here they pick one perfectly. The gore is not subtle, but when present leaves one aching. Dialogue and cinematography memorable as always. I do feel that it’s rewatch required, because by the ending, I was a bit confused. Might grow on me thinking about it tho.
