I’m The only Juan’s review published on Letterboxd:
I think this movie did quite the opposite of what it set out to do, because I know appreciate Sicario (2015) much more than I initially did. But this one is still pretty good, editing very choppy, some times with the location changes I missed the white font, cinematography and all good, but compared to the first one it’s okay. The Writing... That’s what it comes down to my problems with this film, it really felt almost like a reboot. Characters turned up to eleven on their quirks or dysfunctions, etc. Also the premise felt wasted, didn’t bring it to it’s potential.
This was pretty disappointing, but I have to admit on the good stuff, from the acting to some shot coordination that felt like it was done with skill, and the score while it wasn’t down by the late great Jóhann Jóhannsson like the first one (amazing btw), this one was still very good, bringing back the hauntingly amazing parts.
Could’ve been much better, but it’s still pretty good.
