bethany 🎃’s review published on Letterboxd:
this didn't really feel like a black mirror episode and the only thing that gave it that kind of tone was the fact that it was set in the future, but i actually did love this one despite reviews being negative!
miley's performance was so good and the parallels between ashley o. and her real self (career-wise) are insane. angourie rice was super great too. i definitely thought the doll was going to be used against the children in some way and i was super surprised when they used it for something different. the cinematography and the locations used here were stunning too and the dim lighting was used really well to reflect ashley's mood. really makes you think about how pop stars are actually used and treated.
i'm really hoping miley does more acting again!
