Daughter of a Lost Bird

Daughter of a Lost Bird ★★★★½

An intimate journey of identity, belonging, and "where do we go from here?"

Swaney emerging halfway through the film to acknowledge the weight of Kendra's commitment, and examining her own investments and possible projections was both necessary and appropriate to the authenticity of Indigenous people telling Indigenous stories. I can't fathom the difficulty of untangling the complexities, so I'm appreciative to Swaney for taking it on and sharing it with us.

A brilliant contribution to sharing the diverse experiences of each Indigenous person in relation to identity, belonging, colonial violence, intergenerational trauma, and the complicated idea of "homecoming."
