Seriously feeling the lack of Christopher McQuarrie on this one.

My new standard for great romantic comedy. Not only is it charming and heartwarming but it’s also kind of hilarious. And it seems to do both of those things without even trying. One of those movies that just feels effortlessly perfect.

9/10 The second I heard That’s Amore start playing during the opening credits I knew I was in for a good time.

Robert Eggers is the absolute master of making incredible movies that I will never be able to recommend to anyone that I know personally.

9/10 Kinda upset that Amleth didn’t torment everyone by putting on a play. That would have been interesting.

I miss the days when dumb action movies were sincere and didn’t wink at the audience saying “We know this is dumb, you know this is dumb, thanks for the money you popcorn munching losers!”

This is not actually a good movie, but for some reason I kinda liked it. Maybe it was the Cage’s really dumb Alabaman accent, maybe it’s the fact that this is so aggressively Bruckheimer that it hurts. But whatever it is I had a good…

The Sarah Siddons Award for Distinguished Achievement is perhaps unknown to you. It has been spared the sensational and commercial publicity that attends such questionable 'honors' as the Pulitzer Prize - and those awards presented annually by that film society. This is the dining hall of the Sarah Siddons Society. The occasion is its annual banquet and presentation of the highest honor our theater knows - the Sarah Siddons Award for Distinguished Achievement...The minor awards, as you can see, have…

To anyone who doesn’t like this movie, I say you don’t know a thing about a movie! You don’t know what it really is. Only a numbskull thinks he knows things about things he knows nothing about!

10/10 The most underrated and under viewed Coen bros movie on this site.

Heist movies are just the absolute best. Adam Driver is the absolute best. Daniel Craig with a southern accent is the absolute best. Take Me Home, Country Roads by John Denver is the absolute best. And this movie is one of the absolute best.

10/10 How does Soderberg make filmmaking look so easy? It’s not fair.

Nicholas Cage is not Jesus, but he does work in mysterious ways.

Glad to see a movie that is this positive in its message get released in our times. I hope that this wasn’t a one time thing and Cage is back for a while. Not that he went anywhere.

    8/10 A pleasant surprise!

  • Death on the Nile

    Death on the Nile

    ★★★

Not the worst movie of 2019. Also not the worst movie of 2022.

For what ever reason the cinematography really stood out to me here. There were three different types of shots. A bunch of one-takes that were actually good. The spinning shots that made me dizzy and the super awkward close ups that were off-putting. The worst one being during an emotional conversation where we were looking at the back of a characters head for almost an entire minute…

I’ve been going back and forth on how I felt about this movie and I’m sorry if you disagree but I can’t help it, I really enjoyed this. I was engaged for every scene and I barely felt the runtime. The craft on display here was crazy. Paying homage to classic noir movies, while simultaneously making so many nods to the best Batman stories. I know everyone has been saying this but this might be the best BATMAN movie. Not…
