This is a film that went over my head, until a few days after, where you can't stop thinking about it. I think it’s fair to say that this film is the foundation for a lot of drama romance films we see in the 21st century. It withholds the test of time with the morale of the story still being relevant with the plot being simple but effective, i really enjoyed this and it deserves all the praise.

So going into this film i had no clue what to expect, the story gets going straight away with dates, monologues and voiceovers, what i really enjoyed about this film was the storytelling. It was straightforward at times humorous, gut wrenching and gripping. A critique i have, is the portrayal of gay men as predatory, i understand the point of this plot line is to show the dangers and sexualisation aswell as the fetishisation of young gay sex workers as a result of SA but the portrayal is stereotypical, nonetheless the film was heartbreaking in the best

James Mcavoy was my main motivation for watching this, and it surprisingly was really enjoyable. Its well written and based on a book by Zadie Smith which you should check out . It’s focus on various e.g. immigrant/Black & Asian Youths perspectives which makes for such interesting story telling.
