Ralf’s review published on Letterboxd:
"Real love is hard to come by. So you find a way to cope without it."
And what a life of coping it has been!
In wonderfully flamboyant fashion, as befits the man, Rocketman sets out to tell a wildly imaginative fantasy biopic version of Elton John's life, produced by himself funnily enough.
Taron Egerton really throws some hard momentum and energy into the role and even though it follows the same template other music biopics have before it, it does so in spectacular ways and with tongue firmly planted in cheek a lot of the time.
What bad parents with talented children might take away from this (please don't): "Hey, I'm doing the right thing here. My neglection will light the fuse that sets my child ablaze and that'll transform them into a star."
