Blaine McGaffigan’s review published on Letterboxd :
A coming of age story that features a socially awkward and many times unlikable lead character. Down on the world, Nadine is insanely relatable for anyone who felt out of place in high school and is performed with depth by Hailee Steinfeld.
It uses some tropes of high school like the unattainable crush, the boy in the friend zone, and the perfect jock, but puts them in a realistic setting with tragedy and troubled home lives.
A fantastic debut by writer/director Kelly Fremon Craig.
