2018 Superhero Rewatch: In which I return to superhero movies I've seen before to see how time has treated them.

It's been a while since I last watched this first entry in DC's animated films. Honestly, I didn't like it as much as I remembered. Adam Baldwin and James Marsters as Superman and Lex Luthor, respectively, are fine in their roles, but Anne Heche's Lois Lane leaves a lot to be desired. Even worse, though, is the story. As an…

2018 Superhero Rewatch: In which I return to superhero movies I've seen before to see how time has treated them.

The most unusual animated film in my project, but a good one. An accident with a time machine strands Batman, along with several of his friends and enemies, in feudal Japan. What follows is a lushly animated tale that blends the world of the Bat with the tropes of anime and samurai movies. Strange, but compelling and entertaining.

    2018 Superhero Rewatch Adjacent.

There will be no spoilers here. Honestly, so much happens in this movie that even if I WANTED to post spoilers, I wouldn't know where to start. But I will say that Infinity War gave me exactly what I wanted in ways that I never expected. It felt like a comic book crossover come to life, only better planned and executed than most of them. The film is fast, often funny, sometimes gut-wrenching, and if I didn't have an 8-month-old baby to find a sitter for, I would be going back to watch it three more times this weekend.
