Insecurity. Depression. Loneliness. Abandonment. Abuse. Desperation. Anxiety. Self-deception. Memories. This is about all of those things, and how they all collaborate to fuck us up. Hideaki Anno directed the hell out of this movie, Shunji Iwai and Ayako Fujitani were fantastic, the cinematography was breathtaking, and the score was perfect. One of the best movies I've ever seen. I mean, it's Hideaki Anno, of course the movie is phenomenal.
