    The Last Dragon

    ★★★★

The Last Dragon has a really weird structure. It makes the main protagonist a supporting character for almost half of the movie.

At the same time it’s a suprisingly progressive film full of diversity and breaking stereotypes of People of Color. At seems a huge theme in the film is masculinity vs toxic masculinity. It’s fully with blaxploitation films where all the white characters are bad (except for Faith Prince’s Character Angie).

It’s a weird movie, but I love it.

Also... Laura Charles (Vanity) spends the entire film biting her lip and trying to sleep with Leroy, it’s pretty funny.

    Onward

    ★★★½

Onward is really good. Full of heart, but still one of the least interesting concepts Pixar has done.

Better than Cars, but I feel like it should’ve been live action as the animation isn’t anything particularly special.

In case no one can tell, I love this film.

The itsy bitsy spider is genius.

Adalaide sees a spider in the house.
Kitty says she had an “itsy bitsy thing done.”
And then Red comes home whistling the song.

Also on the beach, the thing Adelaide notices

2 (possibly identical) women being seperated.
A flock of all identical birds (peele made Lupita watch the birds)
Someone bursting up from being buring (I literally just figured out the meaning of…
