Alright so I watched this movie last night at midnight, and I didn't know what I was getting into. I ended up staying up all night laying in bed because I couldn't stop thinking about it.
The Nightingale is a revenge style film that digs deep into the heaviest traumas over and over again. A terrifyingly devastating emotional rollercoaster that never stops. The catharsis eventually comes, but even then the main characters are haunted by their bloodlust leaving them feeling somewhat lost.
I really loved the film, but I'm not sure if I could open myself up emotionally to it ever again.
I had written a small list of things I wanted to see in the new Scream movie, and all of them were hit. It's messy, it's over the top, has confusing and unnecessary character attachments, ridiculous dialogue, and takes meta to a new level. That is why it's a perfect Scream sequel.
