    This was a good movie. It's easy to see this as religious propaganda, but I think that's unfair. There is a good story here about two very different men with very different ideas about the institution they're a part of who learn to become friends, and this movie tells that story very effectively.     Beasts of the Southern Wild


    This movie almost feels like a fantasy story. You get lost in the world of it, and that's through the use of visually fantastical yet grounding set pieces that provide a backdrop for this moving coming of age story with rich characters brought to life by some really brilliant actors. It seems I'm constantly being stunned by the talent of child actors recently.

    Honestly, I didn't think that I would like this that much. I've never been a fan of the whole "man with a gun out for revenge" action movie, but this is solid. The way it's shot and the pacing made for a really exciting movie. It's directed by a stunt man, so he clearly knew what he was doing.

    I really don't get the intense hatred that some people have for this movie. It's not an amazing movie; it's overlong and overwritten, Finn and Rose's plot isn't very engaging, and every joke falls flat, but there are things that I liked about it.
