Ben Mehlman’s review published on Letterboxd:
It feels like these days entertainment has to be either the greatest thing ever or the biggest piece of shit ever. With not a lot of room for something to lay in the middle.
HUSTLERS is in the middle for me. A perfectly fine and entertaining movie that pushed its boundaries more than I expected but also could have gone even deeper. The film had much more good then bad but the back half couldn’t find a way to get off of autopilot and dig deeper into the themes it was trying to explore. It’s a movie that was already better then I expected but it is still a little disappointing because it had the potential to be even better. But you know what, that’s okay. I had a good time anyways.
