A beautiful, profoundly sad film that works as well as a (terrible) slice of life social drama as much as it does a horror movie.
Unavailable for too long, this is Ken Russell's masterpeice, a crazy, spectacular film that could never get the funding to be made today. Every shot is a work of art, it's still brilliantly controversial and you remember why Oliver Reed was such an incredible, intense actor. Plus Vanessa Redgrave as a sexually fraustrated hunchback nun. This film has it all!
