    Dynamite Joe


    Dynamite Joe is a pretty standard spaghetti Western, with the main distinction being that, instead of using a revolver, the hero loves solving his problems with dynamite. It's basically the film equivalent of this meme, and I loved this gimmick.

    In general, I like when I go to watch a film with no expectations and get pleasantly surprised. While Dynamite Joe is nowhere near close to the best the genre has to offer, it has a fun and whimsical tone, going from standard Western to swashbuckler pastiche. The set pieces are the best thing here, I loved all the stuff being blown up constantly.

    I'm generally not a big fan of 'evil child' horror films, but I actually really liked this one. The combination of the childhood innocence and the idyllic British countryside with the gruesomeness of the deaths have this a really creepy feeling. So, the beginning and the ending are great, just the middle part is a bit of a slog though.
