I genuinely mean it when I say this film is one of the smartest, most visually stunning masterpieces I’ve ever seen. The warm story circulates perfectly around how it feels to be loved, betrayed, trusted, etc. The way Cuarón uses the foreground and the background as separate subplots of their own is part of what makes the movie the major work it is. Honestly, I’m still infatuated posting this review eight hours after watching and I’m almost certain there’s never going to be another film like this.
