Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny

    ★★★½

This movie was a trip to watch. Old school Kung Fu movies always had the bad English dubs, so their mouths never matched what they were saying. This movie was filmed in English and dubbed into Mandarin, so it has the same problem but reversed. The fight choreography was slick but this movie had more of a Man with the Iron Fists feel to it for some reason. An entertaining watch that I wouldn't mind recommending to fans of Kung Fu movies.

What a shame, this might've actually been a part way decent black comedy if Dieter Laser wasn't constantly yelling at the top of his lungs throughout the movie. The gross humor will only appeal to certain audiences but the yelling makes it nearly impossible to sit through. I couldn't recommend this to anyone, even if you've enjoyed the previous installments.

I feel like they're trying too hard to make you laugh (especially Steve Carell and Kristen Wiig's characters), a lot of the humor just misses for me. The story reminded me a lot of Weird Al's UHF but the dialogue was lacking and unfunny. The first one had lines you could quote! (60% of the time, it works…

This movie was everything I wanted Come Drink with Me (1966) to be! Starring a strong female lead in Kara Hui, who is as deadly as she is BEAUTIFUL, the fight scenes were crisp and there was even some top notch swordplay towards the end. Liu Chia-Liang, who also wrote and directed, is an absolute pleasure to watch (as always!) but doesn't overshadow the main starlet. The comedy was a bit strange but the fight at the masquerade ball was…
