I like to say I write like I think, but I wish I could contextualize life like this.
It was OK. Casting of Conan as Ben Marshall’s pep-pep was perfect. Felt very made-for-TV, direct-to-video. Watched with some of the kids and there were a couple funny moments throughout but the ratio was pretty low. Mostly just absurd stuff.
I came out of the theatre the same way I do with other Coen brothers movies; it was like listening to an album for the first time and I would need a couple spins to really understand if or why I enjoyed it. I did enjoy it though, but I always seem to enjoy their other films a lot more by the second viewing. This one, literally has album cover poster art and was cinematography framed to mimic the look…
Worth it for the title dissolve in episode 2 alone.
Emma Stone deserves some sort of award for this. For her performance and just taking us along on this ride with such conviction.
This really is a megamovie.
And I totally understand why someone would hate or be irritated by this experience but I am so glad it exists.
