    David Lynch: The Art Life

    ★★★

I've long admired David Lynch but have to confess that I don't really get most of his films (although I'm a big Twin Peaks fan). I can't say I understand his work - or his his life influenced his work - much better after watching this documentary. He's very interesting and a good story teller, but this mostly consists of random experiences from his life. With the exceptions of the naked woman and Mr. Smith (what happened to them?!?) I still can't say that I understand what drives Mr. Lynch's creativity.

With all their stratospheric budgets, CGI set pieces, and massive casts, Snyder and Whedon will never surpass what Steven Spielberg did with 3 guys, a boat, and a rubber shark.

A simple story that somehow ended up with a stellar cast and exquisite cinematography. A feel-good film (I'm mystified by the PG-13 rating, there is no profanity, violence, or nudity - the MPAA needs to revisit its standards) with plenty of humor and a fun soundtrack.
