Brad Swenson’s review published on Letterboxd :
Writer/Director/Actor Jon Favreau's best work to date. I simply loved this film. The story and characters are eminently relatable and their journey is filled with laughter and tears and everything in between. The estranged relationship between Favreau's character Carl Casper and his son Percy is heartfelt, funny and real. Whenever they were on screen together, I was completely enthralled with the story. The cinematography, production design and food are fantastic. I kept getting hungrier and hungrier as the movie went on, drooling with envy over all the great fixings Favreau put forth. Definitely one of the best films of 2014 so far. And it gives me hope that Favreau's talent hasn't been lost to big screen blockbuster mediocrity. I hope he brings more small, character-driven stories like this to us for years to come.
