"This is my gift... my curse. Who am I? I'm Spider-Man."

Live-action comic book films have never been better than Raimi's first two Spider-Man movies (I'm very excited to revisit 2 tomorrow).

Remember when big-budget blockbuster superhero movies could just be about ordinary people, with ordinary problems and lives, thrust into extraordinary circumstances? There are some MCU movies that I like, but nothing in that universe has a heart like this. I teared up a few times, to be honest.…

    -Robert Elswit might…

It's fine. I admire that, occasionally, it tries to be something more, but it only very rarely is more than what it is: a relatively incoherent if well-made buddy cop movie that's a bit long with a final action sequence that doesn't live up to its own buildup or budget. I enjoyed watching it, I doubt I'll revisit it any time soon. All of which to say, it's a Marvel Cinematic Universe entry. It's much more the rule than the exception of a franchise built on consistent fine-ness.
