  Mulroney eating it UP!!! insanely good opener was like an outstretched hand saying “don’t worry, this isn’t gonna be mid.” ups the stakes, kills are gruesome! able to keep up a balance of being tongue-in-cheek while not totally fumbling the tone to a point where i don’t feel dread and feel awful for the characters who get cut up. my biggest gripe, really is that it didn’t really feel like a New York City movie! Ghostface definitely didn’t take Manhatten.

  finally realized by rewatching this that John Wick bothers to survive with the world against him solely because his wife tasked him with finding his peace.

  This movie could not be more obviously written by straight white men, and so obviously filmed off the first draft of the script. Literally Zooey Deschanel’s character just asks Paul Dano if he wants to have sex like without any real chemistry or development, my god. A very good case for men never writing female characters ever again. 

  Paul Dano’s really gonna make me watch all these awful movies he’s in, huh?

  It’s only not my worst of the year because I’m a sucker for creative credits. Got super close to walking out of the theater when Natalie Portman’s character started pouring out all this “we live in a society” garbage dialog at her daughter in that god-awful accent. This film is perfect for people whose favorite movie is Enter the Void. I’ll raise it half a star if the point of this film was that I was supposed to hate every second of it.
