The Silence of the Lambs

The Silence of the Lambs ★★★★½

there are so many aspects to praise about this film. it won the top 5 oscars (best picture, director, leading actor & actress, & script). it paved the way for fictional female FBI agents such as special agent dana scully & bones (lmao, remember bones?). but i think that the way the camera forces the audience to view the film's events through the lens of clarice starling, therefore subverting the male gaze & reflecting it back onto said audience, making us feel starling's palpable discomfort in the presence of sexist men spouting micro-aggressions is the most groundbreaking of all. i hope her lambs have stopped screaming.
