First time back in a movie theatre since Onward back in March and, I gotta say, it was a very positive and cathartic experience. It's not an overexageration to say that seeing the IMAX intro damn near moved me to tears and finally seeing the Dune teaser made me very happy. As for the movie itself, I enjoyed it about as much as I expected to honestly. I totally understand why some people wouldn't like this at all, but I enjoyed it quite a bit. It's convoluted, needlessly long and confusing, the characters aren't all that interesting, and the sound mixing is pretty bad at points. For the first half or so of this, I honestly wasn't sure how I felt about it, but there's a point where I just let myself get lost in the concept and the world and I had a great time. This is far from Nolan's best and it's very easy to see why some people reacted negatively to this one, but it just worked for me overall. I feel like you know whether or not you will enjoy this based on how you feel of Nolan's past work. I wouldn't call myself a huge Nolan fan, but I've enjoyed his films and was very much looking forward to seeing this one and it mostly delivered for me.
