Slowly going through my watchlist
Bizarre, funny and unique, this is brilliant and it’s so different to anything else that I’ve seen before. The script is one of the best, it manages to mix comedy, fantasy and drama so well together. The first half is a comedy and the second half a drama, and when both parts are put together the end result is fantastic. Loved this so much, it’s a triumph in how it shows the struggles and challenges that deaf people have to go through in their day to day lives. The sound design is incredible at making the viewer go through what Ruben does, as you get to hear everything single muffled voice and noise whilst also getting the complete silence too. Riz Ahmed is fantastic in this, I’ve loved him for a while…
Impressive production design, inventive cinematography, oddball characters. This is Wes Anderson doing what he does best which is making intriguing films with witty dialogue that exist in a world only he can make work.
