Wish someone killed me halfway through the movie so I wouldn't have to hear Chris Hemsworth's "Boston" "accent" anymore.

Very frustrating to hear all the acclaim about Mann when I find his films consistently flat and unsexy; I guess it's time to admit he's just not for me.

    Autumn Sonata

Sometimes when I lie awake at night, I wonder whether I've lived at all. Is it the same for everybody? Do some people have a greater talent for living than others? Or do some people never live, but just exist?

  • Quantum of Solace

    Quantum of Solace

    ★★★★

the last new-to-me Bond film of my 3 year marathon and it looks like I’m a QUANTUM OF SOLACE apologist!

This is dirty dumpster Bond; tonally the film feels like the grim 70s thriller we never got admidst the campy Moore era. Slot this in with LICENCE TO KILL as two films that eschew a lot of the fun spy trappings for a destructive, skin-and-bones Bond consumed by grief and rage. It’s not something I want from every movie in…

Find it fascinating as a cultural and academic object...but I’d much rather read Carol Clover’s writing on TEXAS CHAINSAW than actually watch it ever again. Very much not for me!

    Whisky Galore!

    ★★★★

It's a well known fact that some men were born two drinks below par.

Stealing and hoarding a boatload of whisky to get one over on the Brits is good praxis.

Relentlessly charming slice of life with gorgeous photography....there's something magical about the Hebrides.

    Casino Royale

Can confirm without a doubt this is the best Bond movie, thanks to my marathon crawl of the series that started 27 fucking months ago. Yet I still struggle to call this my favorite Bond movie in good faith; the whole middle chunk of the film is lost on me because I know fuck-all about poker, which is more than a little frustrating. Someone teach me poker, please, so I don't look like this whenever I rewatch CASINO ROYALE.
