The first time I saw this one was just a little over two years ago and I couldn't bring myself to say a single thing about it. After this watch, I can still barely muster a coherent thought on it.

Such a vibe, such a trip, such an experience; Inherent Vice is still, to me, that kind of movie that is much more about its wide cast of characters and how the whole thing *feels* than how the mystery itself…

Both a fun movie fueled by IP and a critique of the culture surrounding IP, this comedy from the Lonely Island guys brings a certain brand of humour that nails every facet of modern animation and plentiful elements of its history.

It's not a film that relies on IP. It's fun to notice small additions and cameos, but they are hardly presented as *the point* and are conversely presented as extensions of the world as well as tools to further…

But what if we had gotten Werner Herzog in a Mission: Impossible movie instead?

Not without its shortcomings, and certainly a mixed bag overall, this is a fun little expansion on the universe established in the main series that I definitely appreciated. Diabolical is a solid little primer for what's sure to be a fantastic third season as well as a damn solid collaboration between storytellers and artists. It's basically a The Boys take on something like The Animatrix or Star Wars: Visions, which is something immensely admirable and a certain type of project that I'd love to see utilized more often.

When Scott Derrickson promised a scary Marvel film with this one, then promptly dropped out due to "creative differences", I was nervous. When Sam Raimi joined the project, I was thrilled at the possibilities but, even more so, I was worried that he would face the same fate. I assumed that he would ultimately depart from the project or deliver a film that would be very *Marvel* and hardly *Raimi*. I've enjoyed these movies ever since Iron Man and I've…

My expectations were high but, man, this really was something special. It's a rare gem as far as biopics and films of that nature are concerned and really hits on elements of the human psyche as well as the idea of the Royal Family from an outsider's perspective. I'll be honest, I really have hardly any interest in the Royal Family or the romanticisation of their lives and history, but the level of fascination I do have in that regard…
