Unbreakable ★★★

JB's review: 7/10

(He was in and out of sleep.)

A bit of an interesting watch in a post-MCU universe. I wonder how much differently a subversive "comic book hero" movie would fare today.

Bruce Willis is a charmingly distant husband and makes Unbreakable a bit of a spiritual successor to The Sixth Sense with a similar genre tone and emotional center.

Mr. Glass is the thing that gets a little goofy here, not one thing in particular, but every detail put together makes cheesy moments I want to chuckle at occasionally.

Other than that, I appreciate the modesty of its stakes and the smooth pacing. Sort of sad that this was one of Shyamalan's last good films!
