  • Annihilation

Natalie Portman quips with Oscar Isaac about working on two separate Star Wars trilogies, while Tessa Thompson gives Nat a sly dig about taking over as Thor's potential love interest. Okay so that didn't happen...but I couldn't help thinking about those scenarios while watching this.

Annihilation is fine but not as terrifying as I had hoped. It's let down by some dodgy effects, stilted acting and acoustic music choices. The pace is fine and there is a creepy tone to the movie, but ultimately it's a big ball of 'pretty but what's the point?'

  • Tramps

A really nice indie flick about two people trying to navigate their way through the day to day world in hope of seeing the big picture.

The music and cinematography capture the essence of the adventure these two have, and the ending is just right.

The two leads are charming and work off of each other without saying too much. SO much of the acting is in the eyes. between them. Going by this performance Grace Van Patten will be a star.

    Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Update: some nice ideas, shame about the execution. Overall a mess.

How can I take a movie seriously that wants to kill the past, yet also acknowledges that no one is ever really gone?
