Brian Formo’s review published on Letterboxd:
The door knock switcheroo is CLASSIC ; the elevator dial and The Fall’s “Hip Priest” spliced between the screams in a serial killer’s pit and night vision goggles are too. In addition to all the moments Anthony Hopkins actually appears.
The Demme touches are in the shag carpet, the Hurt, Agony, Pain, Love It pan down, the sex positivity of the polaroid discovery, and the Roger Corman cameo. I was struck by how fantastically understated the production design was on this rewatch. There is so much care and hidden empathy in various people's rooms; acute awareness of the secrets we keep in our decor.
