This is not a good movie by any stretch of the imagination ... and yet it was a ton of fun! It knows what it is and gives you pretty much what you expect.
What a disappointment. I was so excited to see this in theaters, but left completely let down. I will never understand the need for hyper violence in movies. It's an atheistic and filmmaking choice that I just don't understand (and probably never will). I go to the movies to escape. While sometimes that escape can push you outside your comfort zone (leading to a great experience), I just don't see the appeal of such over-the-top violence. Obviously I am in the minority, but at least I've learned to stay clear of this style film.
What a terrible movie. I've never had a harder time staying awake during a film. I will never, ever understand the love affair with Tarantino. I just don't get his films or why people fall all over themselves to praise him. If this hadn't been so incredibly dreadful I might have some interest in seeing his new films, but this was two hours of my life I will never get back.
I was pleasantly surprised. I had read a number of reviews that were not favorable but went with a friend who is obsessed with the Broadway show. While this certainly isn't an Oscar winner, I don't feel it was as bad as the reviews stated.
I do think Eastwood was an odd choice for director. Instead of a movie musical it was a movie with some musical numbers in it.
