Mind-blowing. My mind is blown.
I had seen this but so long ago and in nowhere near the HD quality of the new Criterion release that it was really like seeing it for the first time.
You know there's four hours of Rooney Mara staring at meat packages at Costco somewhere on the cutting room floor.
Too directly, thematically similar to Knight of Cups to register. I think Tree/Wonder/Knight make a trilogy about the search for meaning in past/religion/fame. This one searches all over the place and doesn't rise to the level of those three. Not even close.
Now I know how a lot of you feel about his other films.
