Her Name Is Vasfiye

Her Name Is Vasfiye ★★★½

Very self-reflexive narration from Atıf Yılmaz. It's very unique in the manner of storytelling for its time. Great production design and casting. In 1985, it is still under the influence of 70s Turkish cinema narrative conventions but as it has the complex structure of narration, it is far more progresive not only for Turkey but also global cinema.

It's like Fight Club without fight club and social disagreement but full of relationships, love and criticism of traditions.
