The Bro Force Squad’s review published on Letterboxd:
The musical biopic has taken off recently and we've got another solid installment here. Edgerton will definitely get some Oscar buzz for his performance, and the imaginative way the story blends Elton John's music with this fantasy world element that isn't too overdone (looking at you Across The Universe) was really cool to see.
I think I realized throughout the film that while I respect him as one of the greatest musicians to ever live, I'm not a huge fan of a lot of Elton John's songs. He doesn't have many bangers which always make these movies more fun, but his on stage presence really shines through Edgerton and makes this worth a watch. The actors around Edgerton, with the exception of Jamie Bell who was incredible, are a bit weak at times, but the core relationship works so well that the movie can't be slowed down.
