It was OKAY. The sci-fi element felt randomly thrown in, and the so-called parallel dimension didn’t feel too different from the other. In fact, it felt like it was perfectly constructed to fit only the writer’s and main character’s storyline exclusively. Also, the poc-comprised team of science students having no other purpose or interest aside from helping Tree felt like underused potential at its best and played-out tropes at its worst. The plot is ridiculous, and it feels like a Goosebumps episode for adults. Also, the relation to the Amityville canon is minimal, so much so that this could have been its own stand alone film outside of the franchise. Also, some of the acting is just horrible.
