Ben’s review published on Letterboxd:
Goddamn this was a scathing social commentary attack on everything that is wrong with this world. I left the theater angry and depressed. Luckily, McKay’s masterful comedic writing had me laughing my head off the entire time. Everyone with their head up their ass should be viewing this movie. A perfect companion piece to Idiocracy. I’d like to think many elements are too absurd but a lot of them seem to happening in real time as I type this. The true terror of this film is not the madness that naturally occurs from the existential threat that a comet hitting Earth causes, but the helplessness from those in power who choose to do nothing. I’d like to point out that Jonah Hill is the standout in this film. I had legit belly laughs from almost every one of his spoken words. Flashbacks to his “character” in This Is the End. I think Don’t Look Up will, and should, strike a nerve with audiences, especially with what we’re going through right now.
