Ben’s review published on Letterboxd:
Take a bow Brandon Cronenberg. Clearly influenced by his dad with the elements of body and technological horror, but has forged his own style. An absolute fuck you to corporations treating us like slaves. It’s such a depressing theme that is made even more potent the dream-like visuals. One of those films that puts you in a trance and keeps you there. Being a horror aficionado, I feel like I’m pretty desensitized to violence, but it is shocking in this. Not just the violence against people, but the body horror. The scene where Vos and Tate become untethered hasn’t left my mind. Add in some melting bodies and wearing another’s face, and you have some nightmarish imagery. Possessor is an extremely promising start to this decade of horror. It’s going to be hard to top this one right out of the gate.
