Naked Lunch ★★★★

A near perfect bridge between "body-horror-Cronenberg" and " mind-horror-Cronenberg". So much can be said about this film that its beyond the scope of this little blurb, but to make it worth your while to read this I'll have to think of something...

With this film, Cronenberg pulls the mind outside the body and performs a sort of visceral dissection of consciousness. Of course, he had help in the form of the book by William S. Burroughs, but no other filmmaker could have made the adaptation work. I look at this film as a fine metaphor for Cronenberg's transition out of the body and into the mind.
