The Goldfinch ★½

How not to turn a book into a movie. The last act is so dreadful; but, by then, there was just enough interest in some random plot points and characters to see it through.

It kind of seems like they spent the majority of their efforts matching the look of younger actors to older actors rather than other, more important things.

I noticed cinematographer, Roger Deakins, using some of those gauzy curtains he likes from Sicario. My mind started wondering to a better movie where Emily Blunt storms into every scene looking for Theo's cocaine and the Goldfinch. Make it happen, Hollywood!
