"I'm Mary Poppins, y'all!"
The opening scene is epic - I'd actually say it is the best scene in the entire movie closely followed by the Mary Poppins scene 😂
I actually prefer this to the original but a few of the effects are a bit dodgy especially the face distortion thing when they space jump 700 times - I expected something more original.
Kurt Russell as a god is totally believable & there is a weird likeness between him & Chris Pratt which adds to the believability of their relationship. The addition of Pom Klementieff as Mantis adds something special to the cast - I love her character. I'm so glad you get to see more of Yondu & Kraglin - where Groot stole the first film Yondu steals this one. Yondu doing his thing with his arrow on the ship is wicked fun to watch. It's great to see Sly in something like this, a tad underused perhaps but his character & stature definitely add a certain something to this film.
Due to the aforementioned effects I was gonna award this 4 stars but I had to give an extra half star for making me cry - the ending is so sad yet beautiful.
Bonus: Michelle Yeoh in the MCU - I just wish we got to see more of her!
