Don Spader’s review published on Letterboxd:
Anna Chlumsky is so darn good in this. Child actor or not, she’s just a great actress and makes this whole wheel spin.
Unlike other coming-of-age movies, where saccharine schmaltz and sentimentality is the norm, this one feels grounded in a distinct reality. The characters feel like living, breathing people and Aykroyd, Curtis and Dunne give likeable and genuine performances.
