  Looking for answers to my questions—such as why so much time with the mime kids—I read two respected critics. Roger Ebert loved the film, dwelling on some of the standout scenes and giving the film a lot of credit for what it may have been trying to accomplish. Pauline Kael seems to have hated the people who liked the film more than she hated the film itself. Her ironic lens clouded any real criticism, but both reviews left me with…
