Much better than the premise would suggest! This is not a French variation of Shallow Hal. It helps to have two major talents—Dujardin had won an Oscar and Efira would go on to become…maybe the best working actress in the world right now??—in the lead roles.
The visual effects are pretty decent, too, given the limited budget of a romantic comedy. Except when they’re dancing: Dujardin and Efira are clearly not in the same space at the same time.
